Season's Greetings 2017

2017 Season’s Greetings

Dear all,

After the relocation to Langenselbold last year, we were able to settle in our new headquarters. The new work flows are well-known and we are now able to benefit from the way better processes the new building enables us.

In 2017 we were happy that we are now able to welcome and serve a higher amount of guests. Beside different meetings and trainings, we got three big User Meetings for IRMS, elemental analysis and TOC customers. Of course, not only Elementar Germany held nice User Meetings – of course our subsidiaries were very busy and successful, too!

I could talk a lot about other achievements and highlights of Elementar this year – but its year end, so I briefly sum it up: It was a great year! We hope that 2018 will be as successful as 2017 for Elementar and all of you. Have a peaceful holiday season and a prosperous new year!

Your blog team & colleagues 🙂

Elementar at PEFTEC conference

Elementar at PEFTEC 2017

Actually we are exhibiting at PEFTEC 2017 in Antwerp, Belgium. The PEFTEC is a international conference and exhibition for petroleum, chemical and petrochemical industries. It is one of the most interesting conferences for the energy market.

We are able to target this market with our tailormade solutions, especially with the trace SN cube, the rapid OXY cube and the vario EL cube. Our Product Manager Elemental Analysis, Dr. Marc Ruppenthal and our Account Manager for EA & IRMS, Kathrin Reimer are on venue to address all interested parties. If you are interested, step by at booth 86!

Furthermore, we take part at the conference program. Dr. Ruppenthal is holding two presentations with the following titles:

  • Oxygen concentration analysis of biofuel with a reproducibility of ±100 ppm
  • High-precision sulfur and nitrogen concentration analysis in fuel and oil

More information about our solutions for solid fuel analysis could be found at our Elementar website and more information about the PEFTEC is available on the conference website.

IRMS User Meeting 2017

IRMS User Meeting 2017

From 5th – 6th July, the European IRMS User Meeting 2017 took place at the Elementar headquarters in Langenselbold. The User Meeting offered our users the opportunity to interact with our IRMS specialists and visit the new headquarters. Furthermore it was an opportunity to meet other users from our instruments and discuss about topics like the different fields of research and the challenges with like-minded persons.

During the meeting, several presentations were held by our users. We are very happy that they supported the IRMS User Meeting 2017 with highly interesting presentations. A big thank you to all of them:

  • Prof. Nicole Wrange-Mönning, Universität Rostock, Presentation:
Seeing the invisible: Examples of the use of stable isotopes in grassland ecology
  • Dr. Thomas Meisehen, Bergische Universität Wuppertal, Presentation:
Measuring Hydrogen Isotope Ratios of Atmospheric Volatile Organic Compounds: A new Insight into Atmospheric Processes
  • Prof. Danilo Sciarone, Università degli Studi di Messina, Presentation:
Simultaneous detection by isotope ratio mass spectrometry and quadrupole mass spectrometry coupled to multidimensional gas chromatography for the analysis of complex samples
  • Prof. Elisabeth Yohannes, University of Konstanz, Presentation:
How to make fish from methane: overview using bulk and amino acid specific stable isotope analysis
  • Dr. Francois Fourel, University of Lyon, Presentation:
Pyrocube-IRMS: the ultimate tool for CNS, O and H precise isotopic analyses
  • Dr. Claudio Natali, University of Ferrara, Presentation:
Thermally Based Speciation of carbon pools in environmental matrices

A nice program which offered the possibility to interact with other users, discuss about IRMS related topics and discover the latest developments of the IRMS product line from Elementar during a comfortable stay in Langenselbold.

We are very happy that a lot of customers participated the meeting. Hopefully we will meet again during the next meeting in 2019! :)

Opening Ceremony

Official opening ceremony of the Elementar headquarters

Within only 14 Months, the new headquarters from Elementar was build. Thanks to this blog, we had the opportunity to watch very closely what’s going on the construction site and how our new workplace developed. Before the focus of the blog will lead to other topics, there is one highlight, we need to report about: the official opening ceremony!

Last week, Elementar invited external partners to celebrate the official opening together. Because we want to invite our most important partners, the festivities took place on two days. The guest list was very diversified and consists of politicians and association members, customers and suppliers, neighbors as well as construction partners. The varied program was opened by Elementar Director Dr. Hans Peter Sieper, who was giving an inside in Elementars history, the reasons for the construction of the new headquarters and the actual situation of the business. Furthermore, Country Commissioner Erich Pipa and Major Jörg Muth contributed to the program with a personal speech.

During the following panel discussion regarding the basis and the design of the new building, owners, architects, construction manager, consultant and artist discussed about the sustainable building concept, architectural design, logistics and building art. A so called “Science Slam” was another highlight of the program. Three young scientists were presenting their field of research – in a preferably simple and entertaining way. Of course, a company tour was offered to all guests after the official program. This was a great opportunity for them to get an insight how the processes at Elementar are interlocked and what’s the special characteristics of the stations.

The feedback was very positive and the opening ceremony was mentioned by different newspapers. We are very happy about that – that shows that the effort payed off. :) A big thank for the nice opening ceremony goes to all of our employees – everybody took part in the preparations and therefore caused the success of the event!

PS: For this post, Fabienne and I were live at the red carpet to report for you. Unfortunately, even the best prepared marketing girls could put one’s foot in it and wear the same outfit on the red carpet… :)

Mettler Toledo product video

Mettler Toledo product video on YouTube

At the end of September we reported about the video shoot for the new, ultra-precise WXTS microbalance from Mettler Toledo in Greifensee, Switzerland. In the video they want to show the standard workflow, so we were on venue for the shoot with one of our instruments. Now the video is finished and published on the Mettler Toledo Website and on YouTube.

Fun Fact from the video shoot: The beautiful model was very talented weighing-in the samples, but at 1:06 minutes you could see the professional tweezer handling of our product manager Dr. Marc Ruppenthal. For that you need a little bit more practice. :)

OR: Visit us!

During the last weeks we reported about the completion and official opening of the Elementar-Straße itself. Unfortunately there were still some earth works left to do at that time. Bad weather caused some delays within the planting activities, which needed to be finished before it could be paved in front of the main entrance. Now this work is finished and you could reach us comfortably and easily by our main entrance. Just drive to:

Elementar Analysensysteme GmbH

Elementar-Straße 1

63505 Langenselbold

Germany

There you could directly park your car in front of the building. In case that you are not sure, if you are on track, just look for the five colorful Elementar flags, which are derived from the colors in our logo. They are now pointing everybody the right way. :)

2016 seasons greetings

2016 Season’s Greetings

Dear all,

2016 was a thrilling year for us – we achieved some big changes within Elementar. We were able to welcome a lot of new colleagues due to the increased capacity in Germany and the establishment of new subsidiaries. One of the biggest changes for the German employees is the relocation to Langenselbold. After only 14 months of building period, we operate since September from the new headquarters.

We hope that 2017 will be as successful as 2016 for everybody of us. Have a peaceful holiday season and a prosperous new year!

Your blog team & colleagues :)

Opening of the Elementar-Straße

Opening of the Elementar-Straße

As Fabienne reported in the last weeks, the expansion of the Elementar-Straße was developing very quickly. The ca. 50 meter long street and the new exit of the roundabout are finished now. For the official opening, the mayor of Langenselbold, Jörg Muth and the director of the building authority, Axel Planiczky visited us for the official opening. The weather wasn’t that nice for the opening, but the officials from Langenselbold and the management board of Elementar are proud that the new street is finished now.

After the opening Mr. Muth and Mr. Planiczky enjoyed a tour throught the building, which is filled with live since the middle of September. We thank the mayor and the city of Langenselbold for the good cooperation. It was a great help to set up the new headquarters in within only 14 months. The street name is a good indication for the good relationship between Langenselbold and Elementar.

Some earth works need to be done right before the entrance, but it should be finished within the next two weeks. Then our visitors could reach us directly via the nice main entrance:

Discovering new paths

Discovering new paths

… is soon possible at the Elementar headquarters. At the moment the path around the building is getting laid with big concrete slabs. These are real heavyweights of 3,000 kg. Special slabs even weigh up to 4,000 kg! With the help of modern technique that is no problem: the slabs are aspirated per vacuum by a special device on the excavator. Then they could be raised and placed with millimeter accuracy.

Soon the show in the “outdoor cinema” for the colleagues at the ground floor will be finished – even if keeps raining all the time, the work on the new path proceeds quickly. :) Now we could get a first impression how it will look like when it’s finished. It keeps moving on the Elementar headquarters!

Elementar @ the new Mettler Toledo product video

Last week we had a very exciting appointment @ Mettler Toledo in Greifensee, Switzerland. Mettler Toledo will launch a new, ultra-precise balance, which has big advantages due to easy handling, fast operation and simple cleaning. The launch of the great new balance is planned for the end of 2016. To be best prepared for marketing purposes, they want to have a product video which highlights the clear advantages of the new micro balance. To show the normal workflow, an analyzer from Elementar is set as co-star in the video.

We were very proud that Mettler wants to have our instrument in their video! We were also very happy about the chance to be part of the video and to take this exciting possibility to get a profound insight into their professional work. We hope that we were helpful for the video recording and we look forward to seeing the final video. We will of course post the final video on our blog, as soon as it is available!

In advance, we are able to give you some picture impressions as a teaser. :)
